A little bit about Aberdeen:  Aberdeen is Scotland's third most populated City with an estimated population of over 200,000.  The area around Aberdeen shows human settlement that dates back to prehistoric times; at least 8000 years ago, with prehistoric villages laying around the River Dee and Don.  In 1319 Aberdeen was crowned as a Royal Burgh, which certainly transformed the economy of the City. Aberdeen has one of the most distinctive townscapes in Scotland, and thanks to the use of Silver Granite it is known affectionately as 'Granite City' or the lesser used name 'The Silver City'.  Silver Granite was quarried locally and has been used from the 18th century onward to shape the City of Aberdeen. In sunshine, the granite’s embedded mica chips act like tiny mirrors reflecting light at all angles to create a wonderful sparkling effect, hence the nickname 'The Silver City'.  Granite is a durable and hardwearing stone, and after cleaning, looks like brand new.
